DAILY PROMPT From the Top Today, write about any topic you feel like — but you must reuse your opening line (at least) two more times in the course of your post. I apologize. To anyone in the midwest who … Continue reading
I can’t believe yesterday was not Tuesday. But I had time to get used to it, so I’m okay with today being Thursday. Do you ever lose a day along the way?
Today’s thrifty store of choice is Jane.com. Jane was introduced to me by my lovely friend, Laurie. I would link you all to her so you could bask in her awesomeness, but she doesn’t blog. I know for a fact she would lynch me if I sent you to intrude upon her personal life on The Facebooks, so you will just have to take my word for it.
Jane.com is like a craft fair/boutique type of online store. You will find household goods, clothes, toys, jewelry, personalized items, makeup…the list just goes on and on. I adore a good amount of their clothes (and have purchased my fair share) and I REALLY love that I can buy personalized items for pretty much the same as non-personalized items elsewhere (maybe even cheaper!).
If you purchase from them you will need to keep in mind that all of the items are coming from different vendors. You may not and likely will not receive your items in one shipment and each item will likely have different shipping costs. I have never found this to be too much of a nuisance considering the great deal I’m getting.
A few of my favorite finds have been maxi skirts, chevron blouses and personalized necklaces for the littles. If you keep an eye out, you may even luck upon a grab bag or two like I did. Five pieces of statement jewelry for less than ten bucks? Don’t mind if I do.
Trendy kicks, caps, tees

H & M I love
That’s horrible haiku. Horrible! But in all seriousness, as I sit here in the wee hours of the morning compelled to stay silent for fear that one of my house creatures will awaken, I am recently inspired by my email to write about my favorite thrifty store, H&M. Whether it was because there wasn’t an H&M local to me or whether I was under some notion that H&M was some high-nosed shop due to advertised celebrity designer partnerships like Karl Lagerfeld, Vanessa Paradis or Madonna, I didn’t “discover” H&M until a couple of years ago. Now, I don’t know what made me sit up and take notice a couple of years ago (ahem…David Beckham), but I did sit up and take notice and how! Was I surprised to find totally on trend fashions for me AND my little people at prices that I could easily fit under Husby’s rule of: If it’s more than $5 than it’s too much. He says this in jest. I think. But, it’s absolutely true with H&M. They have tons of super cute things for $5 or less. My favorite finds this summer have been the Buy 2 Get 1 Basics. I stocked up on cute sundresses for the littles at only $4.95 each with every 3rd one being free. And they are adorable. And my kids love them. Win, win. Win, win, win.
This morning my email promises “Adorable new arrivals for your kids from $4.95”. Shall we?
